Sneak Peek at the NY Post|Production Conference

A Sneak Peek at the New York Post|Production Conference
October 23-25, 2007

We recently caught up with Jeff Greenberg, Principal Instructor at Future Media Concepts, and asked some questions of the upcoming conference...

Hi Jeff,

Can you give our members a sense of what they can expect to walk way with after the conference?

When you attend a conference like this, it's often overwhelming.  Each session has 75 solid minutes of information from people who are not merely experts in their field, but also fantastic presenters and communicators.  You're going to walk away with a minimum of three to five solid ideas per session.    That's going home with at least fifteen killer ways to change the way you work per day.  Bring a pad and paper, take notes and get good sleep, because each session works for intermediate to advanced users.  Also, bring business cards; you're going to end up networking, as always, you never know where the next gig is going to come from.

Is there anything at the New York show that they won't get in Vegas?

What happens in April in Vegas is always the same - lots of announcements, lots of new products, and we nobody really knows which ones will impact us or how they'll impact the market.  It's now six months since NAB.  Tools have been released, people have begun to work with these tools.  This is your chance to get the leap on your competition by getting a grasp on these changes.

Are there any specific tracks that you're especially excited about?

I'm the wrong guy to ask!  It depends on which hat I'm wearing, production, post, or motion graphics..

Some days I'm wearing the Production hat.  In which case, I'm dying to see the Digital Video Production sessions; I'm always learning something new and useful about lighting and sound.  When I'm looking at the show as an editor, I'm excited about The Final Cut Suite and Avid Tracks (yes, I truly use both; it depends on who I'm working with.) And the motion graphics track is important to me for improving the 'look' of my work without spending additional money.  I always have the same struggle attendees have - What should I go see next?
