Director's Note

NAB…what a rush!  Of all the NAB trips to Vegas we've taken over the last ten years, 2007 will certainly go down as the most successful for DVPA.  We had countless meetings, dinners and events all crammed into a single week.  We had a great roundtable discussion at our annual Advisory Board Meeting.  Members will start to see some new and welcomed faces populate the site with great industry knowledge.  What does all this mean for the association?  Over the next few months, you'll begin to see some major benefits added to your membership.  The best part for members is that there is no increase in fees.  We remain committed to programs built specifically to enhance members' creativity, speed up work performance, and help relieve the significant costs associated with production.

In other words, the DVPA remains as committed as ever to helping members work faster, be more creative, and save money.

Hang tight...great things are still to come!

President/Director of Operations

Media Mover
Reviewed by Dennis Kutchera
Overall I give this a rating of 10 out of 10. If you edit on Avid, once you have tried MediaMover, you will not be able to live without it.

The first tool in the "Non-Glam Editing Series" is MediaMover, from Random Video. This is a third-party utility written by an editor, Tony Black, specifically for a need unique to Avid systems.

Avid's media management strengths lie in its ability to maintain one of the most robust databases of any non-linear editing system. Through the Media Tool you can effortlessly delete unused media and effects as well as consolidate media. What this means is basically duplicate or move media from one hard drive partition to another. The real power of consolidation is the ability to duplicate only a portion of a media file that is actually used in a sequence. With consolidation you can keep the two seconds you used from a 30 second...(read more)
