Director's Note When I saw C3-PO engage Chewbacca in “space chess” in the 1977 release of Star Wars, I distinctly remember a chill running through my spine. At that precise moment in my life, there was nothing that my parents or teachers could tell me to convince me that the visual world of communication was not going to be my future. Well, I'm proud to say I'm actively pursuing my passion of being an innovative visual communicator. Thanks to my dear friend, Rod Harlan, DVPA founder and now full-time DVPA Evangelist, I've been given an extraordinary number of opportunities to realize this zeal for all things visual. One of the first things Rod did for me was to challenge me to grow as an artist. With this challenge, came the birth of the DVPA. Sitting in a Comfort Inn one late evening in 1998, Rod and I came up with a name for his brainchild. The Digital Video Professionals Association is now more than just a name for an organization …for me-it's about the passion and the drive to become a better artist. My commitment as the new President/ Director of Operations is to do everything I can to assist you in becoming a better visual communicator. This organization is as much yours as is mine-so I welcome your feedback and suggestions. Here's to a fantastic 2007! The best is truly yet to come!! Sony's Vegas 7 + DVD Architect 4 reviewed by Glenn Cragwall My first foray into the world of digital editing came in the early 1990's with a little audio application called “Sound Forge”. Call it nostalgia, loyalty, or just plain curiosity, but, since then, I've kept my eye on the fledgling company that created it, Sonic Foundry.
