Letter from Outgoing Executive Director Rod Harlan

I started this association nearly nine years ago, and it has been an awesome experience. I've thoroughly enjoyed building the organization, interacting with the members, and providing education and news for the worldwide digital video community. My fondest memories are of all of the great discussions I've had with members throughout the years at conferences and expos, via email, or on the phone at DVPA HQ.

Though this has been a tremendous experience I feel my life and career taking a new direction. One where I'm writing books again, creating content, producing, directing, and teaching more live sessions and workshops. One where I'm following my passion, and putting my talents and experience to their best use.

I've sought the advice and counsel of close friends, family, and even DVPA members, and I realize that it's time for me to follow this new direction and start this new chapter of my life. To that end, effective November 15, 2006 I am leaving the DVPA as it's Executive Director.

In my place will be a long time DVPA member and good personal friend named Benjamin Weeks. "Benjammin!" as he is known to his friends has decades of experience and has been an advisor and close confidant to the DVPA organization for as long as I can remember. He's been a frequent trainer at DVPA events and at the NAB Post|Production conferences in both Las Vegas and New York. He has a lot of great contacts within the industry and has an exciting vision for the DVPA and it's membership that will definitely propel both successfully into the future.

While I will no longer be in charge of the day-to-day operations of the organization, I am not leaving altogether. In fact, I will become the first ever DVPA Evangelist and I'm looking forward to seeing many familiar faces at NAB, PhotoshopWorld, and a half dozen other major conferences and expos throughout the year.

My heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who has been a member, a friend, and partner to both myself and the DVPA. I appreciate it more than you know.

I hope to see you in one of my workshops or seminar sessions on the road in the coming year, and wish you all nothing but the very best in 2007.

Sincerely,

Rod Harlan
DVPA Evangelist
