Q: Adobe Production Studio requires product activation. What does this mean, and how does it work in installing copies on multiple machines?

A: Product activation is an interactive interpretation of the licensing agreement that has always existed between Adobe and its customers. The activation process authenticates licensed users without hindering their ability to use the software the way they always have. Just as creative professionals use watermarks to protect their intellectual property, Adobe is using activation as a way to curtail unlicensed copying of its products. Adobe's activation process is required for Adobe Production Studio Premium and Standard, as well as standalone versions of After Effects 7.0, Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, Photoshop CS2, Adobe Audition 2.0, Encore DVD 2.0, and Illustrator CS2 .
